Data security is a big topic, but it all boils down to one simple principle: Least privilege. At any given time, a user should have access to only the bare minimum resources required to complete the task at hand. SQL Server 2005 offers several new features to help with granular access control and dynamic authorization—both of which support least privilege design methodologies. This session covers schemas, ownership chaining, impersonation, and module signing, and how each applies to the security puzzle to help you to create simple, robust schemes that ensure that only properly authorized users are accessing your data.
