Description: This session will illustrate the automation of Microsoft Office Visio 2007 by accessing Visio’s Powerful and Robust Object Model. By accessing the object models of other data source applications Visio can become a fully automated visualization surface for bi-directional communication between those data sources and Visio SmartShape symbols Goals: Fully understand the structure of the Visio Object Model hierarchy Fully understand the mechanism for placement of Visio SmartShape symbols on a Visio Diagram Page Fully understand how to draw in data from another application’s data source via its Object Model and push data back to that data repository Requirements: Basic understanding of the Visio User Interface as well as the properties of a Visio SmartShape symbol. Basic understanding of the structure of a Microsoft-based Automation Controller, i.e. Visual Basic for Applications, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic.NET, or C#.NET
